Melbourn's Storm (edit)

Howdy, y'all. This is the first major edit of "Melbourn's Storm," and as always I am mas grateful to my friends in the North County Writers of Speculative Fiction, who provide needed support and feedback (of all kinds).

This second version of "Melbourn's Storm" has been removed.  It has been replaced by this current version.

  1. When I reached the point that I realized this was a "revisit the dead I killed" story, I was ho-hum. I started to perk up when I got to the character studies of the thief and the gambler. You've always been good with showing little glimpses of lives. The point I got a warm glow was when I reached the reason he keeps coming back. I'ld forgotten that about Melbourn's memories, and found it an interesting turn in the story. It showed how he was not only no longer the man he was, but that he couldn't even truly remember that man at all. And the final conversations with Beverley ended the story for me bitter-sweet; just as all your Heroes stories should.

  2. Thanks, Tony. Your opinion is always a highlight, and I always appreciate it. I'm going to infer that you didn't quite know where I was going with this, and that pleases me to no end.

It's funny that you mentioned "bittersweet," because just the other day I was thinking that I was attempting to carve myself a place as That Bittersweet Dark Fantasy guy (seriously). It's a flavor I think I enjoy.
